The Zion City Council approved two requests Tuesday evening related to computer programs used by the city and computer training that the city offers to its employees.
The first item, approved on a 4-1 vote, authorized Zion City Clerk Judy Mackey to get price quotes for the proper licensing of Windows NT and Microsoft Office 7.0 Professional computer software.
Various city departments use different software packages, causing compatibility conflicts, according to a memo from Mackey.
The second item, approved unanimously, authorized Mackey to advertise for bids to train city employees in word processing, file management, database formatting, spreadsheets, presentations, tables, charts, projects and scheduling.
