Lloyd E. “Red” VanderPal, 62, Hebron Township Road Commissioner from 1979 to 1982, died Sunday in his Hebron home. He was a lifetime resident of the Hebron area. He was a graduate of Bolles Naval Academy in Jacksonville, Fla., and served in the U.S. Army from 1954 to 1956 in France and Europe. He was owner/operator of VanderPal Excavating and Landscaping, retiring in 1992. He operated the Spot-Teen Center in Hebron during the late 1960s. During the 1970s, he was a stock driver at Lake Geneva, Wis., a farmer, cowboy, gold miner and an accordion player. He was a former member of the Alden-Hebron Grange and Harvard Moose Lodge 1289. He is survived by his wife, Gerry; two daughters, Jill Burg and Judi Beck; two sons, Jack and James; six grandchildren; his mother, Myra; and a sister. Graveside services will be held at 2 p.m. Thursday at the Linn-Hebron Cemetery, Hillside and Nichols Roads, Hebron.
