A city police officer who allegedly offered to help a female inmate get out of jail in exchange for sex will be fired if he doesn’t quit, Gary Police Chief John Roby says.

Oscar Price, 26, of Hammond, was being held without bond Tuesday in the Lake County Jail, charged with sexual misconduct with an inmate. If convicted, he faces a maximum 3-year sentence.

“He will be given the option to resign. If not, he will be terminated,” Roby said.
