“MacNelly’s view” (Editorial page, July 6) was a wonderful cartoon tribute to the wonderful life of Jimmy Stewart. In a creative and eye-catching manner, MacNelly highlighted Mr. Stewart’s military record/decorations and artistic achievements.

Many of us “pre-baby boomers” have seen most, if not all of the 35 movies included that represented Mr. Stewart’s career. But Gary Cooper must be getting an apology from Mr. Stewart this week as “Pride of the Yankees” (the story of Yankee great Lou Gehrig) wasn’t a James Stewart film. Perhaps Mr. MacNelly was thinking of “The (Monty) Stratton Story.” In any case, as Jimmy would have said, “Hey, that’s OK. Thanks very much.”
