Arizona ranked as 1996 king of U.S. home turnovers with home ownership, on average, changing every 6.4 years, the fastest in the country. But Nevada’s turnover rate was a close at 6.9 years last year. In contrast, Nebraska, with housing turnover on average of 17.6 years, and Hawaii, at 17.3 years, ranked as the states with the lowest turnover. The average American home changes ownership once every 11.9 years.
