Don’t tell Jesse Helms about the “Miss Fancy Pants Kicks It Off” exhibit at the Point of View Gallery. It presents Erika DeVries’ photos of the title figure – “a product of her middle-class American self,” says DeVries – wearing a dress and doing handstands in Brooklyn and other exotic locales. This leads to the exposure of her more or less fancy underpants. DeVries has a master of fine arts degree from The School of the Art Institute of Chicago, and no doubt her work is conceptual, maybe even transgressive. The exhibit runs though Aug. 8 at the Point of View Gallery, 2115 N. Damen Ave., 773-772-2814.
