Robert W. Fox, 76, a long-time Chicago resident and Boy Scout volunteer, died Sunday after a long battle with cancer. Mr. Fox, who worked as a mechanical engineer for Teletype Corp., had been active in the Boy Scouts of America since 1957. He served as chairman of a local Cub Pack and Scout Troop and as chairman and commissioner of the Indian Boundary District Committee. He led many Scouting tours through a Scout ranch in New Mexico and received Scouting’s highest honor, the Silver Beaver. A naval officer who served during World War II, Mr. Fox retired with the rank of commander. Survivors include his wife, Muriel; a daughter, Barbara Kilgore; and a son, Douglas. Visitation will be held between 4 and 9 p.m. Friday in Drake & Son Funeral Home, 5303 N. Western Ave. Services will be held at 10 a.m. Saturday in St. Mark Lutheran Church, 6047 N. Rockwell St. in Chicago.
