Leon S. Stratton, 58, of Chicago, died Monday in a plane crash in Bellaire, Mich. A Chicago native, Mr. Stratton was president of Stratton Hats Inc. in Bellwood, which manufactured hats for the U.S. Army and state police departments throughout the country. He flew planes for the U.S. Navy in the 1960s. His passion was flying. “When he went, this is how he wanted to die,” said his daughter, Sophia Lee Klopas. Survivors include his wife, Kathrine ; a son, Jason Leon; a daughter, Sophia Lee Klopas; his parents, Steven and Sophia; three brothers; and a sister. Services will be at 10:30 a.m. Friday in the Holy Apostles Greek Orthodox Church, 2501 S. Wolf Rd., Westchester.
