Robert E. Morgan, 72, of Warrenville, a longtime educator with schools in Mt. Prospect and Wheaton, died Tuesday at Hines Veterans Affairs Hospital near Maywood. Born in Chicago, Mr. Morgan was in a U.S. armored artillery division during World War II and served 21 months overseas. After his discharge in 1946, he attended Wheaton College and earned a bachelor’s degree in geology in 1950. He started his teaching career in 1951 at Central Junior High School in Mt. Prospect, where he taught social studies and math. He became the principal of Fairview Elementary School from 1959 to 1968. During that time, he received his master’s degree in education from Northern Illinois University in 1964. In 1968, he became principal of Longfellow Elementary School in Wheaton and served there until his retirement from teaching in 1980. He then went to work at MAP International, which received donated pharmaceutical and health-care supplies from drug companies and distributed them to Third World countries. He also ran his own company, Olde Thyme Electrical Service. Survivors include his wife, Margaret; two sons, Douglas and David; a daughter, Carol; and six grandchildren. Services will be at 10:30 a.m. Friday in Warrenville Bible Chapel, 4 S 157 Curtis Ave., Warrenville.
