John King Mc Cafferty, 72, retired manager of the state’s personnel office in Chicago and an active, longtime resident of the city’s Sauganash neighborhood, died Thursday in a Rochester, Minn., hospital. Mr. Mc Cafferty was a vice president of administration for the Chicago Better Business Bureau and a counselor and recruiter for the Internal Revenue Service prior to his service with the State of Illinois. He retired in 1989. Mr. Mc Cafferty served with the Office of Naval Intelligence during World War II. He is survived by his wife, Lela. Mass will be said at 10 a.m. Tuesday in Queen of All Saints Basilica, 6280 N. Sauganash Ave., Chicago.
