Paul Keiling, 84, of Darien, a former transportation clerk with the Burlington Northern Railroad, died Friday in Hinsdale Hospital. Born in Harrisburg, Pa., Mr. Keiling owned and operated a restaurant there before entering the Army during World War II. A sergeant, Mr. Keiling repaired and installed radar units out of a base in Newton, Kan., serving nearly three years in the service. After the war, he began working for the Burlington Northern Railroad, retiring in 1977. An avid traveler, he devoted much of his retirement to touring the United States by automobile, his daughter, Leslie Wienc, said. Mr. Keiling was an active member for 50 years in the National Catholic Order of Foresters and the Transportation Communication Union. Other survivors include his wife, Helen; two other daughters, Nancy Vilimek and Madeline Ceselski; a son, Greg; six grandchildren; and one great-grandchild. A brief service will be held Tuesday at 9:30 a.m. in Modell Funeral Home, 7710 S. Cass Ave., Darien. A mass will be said Tuesday at 10 a.m. in Our Lady of Mt. Carmel Church, 8404 S. Cass Ave., Darien.
