Ameritech Cellular Services has signed a five-year contract designating Lucent Technologies as its sole supplier for Ameritech’s wireless phone infrastructure. Analysts estimated the pact is worth $700 million to $1 billion. Lucent, a New Jersey-based phone equipment maker that was spun off from AT&T Corp. last year, will provide switches, wireless base stations and assorted hardware, software and engineering services to Ameritech.
