DeKalb Genetics Corp. introduced its Roundup Ready corn hybrids to farmers at a Minnesota agricultural expo, disclosing that it will sell enough of the new transgenic seed to plant 1 million acres in 1998. Roundup Ready corn is the first seed that is resistant to Roundup, the world’s best-selling herbicide, marketed by St. Louis-based Monsanto Co., which has a large stake in DeKalb.
