The Aug. 3 “Case for stability,” by Drs. Bennett Leventhal and Lauren Wakschlag (Perspective) is a calm, measured and wise piece, rising above the shrillness and adversarialism of the “Baby Richard” case. After reading the authors’ plea, I was left asking, Why couldn’t the judiciary truly listen to these people and do the right and humane thing? Justice is supposed to be blind, but not cold, deaf and dumb.
