Eugene J. Landry, 73, of Des Plaines died Wednesday in Holy Family Medical Center in Des Plaines. Mr. Landry, who lived in Des Plaines for 70 years, delivered mail for the U.S. Postal Service for 39 years. “He was a good, conscientious letter carrier,” said Des Plaines Postmaster Ron Dubas. “He took good care of his customers.” After retiring from the Postal Service, Mr. Landry was a crossing guard at the intersection of Forest Avenue and Wolf Road in Des Plaines. An Army veteran of World War II, Mr. Landry was a past commander of American Legion Post 36 in Des Plaines. Survivors include his wife, Beverly; three sons, Randal, Ronald and Donald; a sister; and six grandchildren. Services will be at 10:30 a.m. Saturday in Oehler Funeral Home, 555 Lee St., Des Plaines.
