Irvin B. Schmakel, 73, an Orland Park resident who had been a printer with Goldbatt’s Department Stores for about 30 years, died Friday in Palos Community Hospital in Palos Heights. Mr. Schmakel, a native of Chicago, later worked for CNA Insurance Cos., retiring from that firm as a production manager after 16 years of service. Survivors include his wife, Adeline; two sons, Irvin Jr. and Rocco; and two brothers. Visitation will be from 3 to 9 p.m. Sunday in Colonial Chapel, 15525 S. 73rd Ave., Orland Park. Mass will be said at 10 a.m. Monday in St. Julie Billiart Catholic Church, 7399 W. 159th St., Tinley Park.
