The City Council postponed until Monday a vote on Sprint Communications’ proposal to erect a temporary communications antenna atop the Darien water tower.
Sprint wants to lease the tower at 75th Street and Plainfield Road, but first wants to build a temporary antenna to make sure the site will work. No fee would be paid for the temporary access, but Sprint would pay a monthly fee if a lease is signed.
The city wants to make sure notice is given before Sprint uses the site and that city staff won’t be required to assist with the procedure.
