Warren-Newport Public Library Board members Tuesday night heard about activities planned by a special Dedication Committee, made up of library trustees and staff, for the opening and dedication of the new library, scheduled for mid-November.

“We really want to show the new library off to the community,” said Janice Marsh, library public information coordinator and a member of the Dedication Committee. “We want to share our enthusiasm.”

Marsh said the committee is working with a dedication budget of about $15,000.

“We’re hoping to have a sneak preview fundraiser before the library opens to the public with live music, wine and hors d’oeuvres to help raise some money for the library endowment fund,” said Marsh.

“In the following weekend we’ll plan a big public ceremony with special events such as performances by a local theater group and activities for children.”

The new library building, located at 224 N. O’Plaine Rd., is proceeding on schedule, said Marsh, and a more definite opening date should be available in mid-September when inside finishing work is completed.
