Most trucks today are exceeding the speed limit, following the car ahead too closely, changing lanes rather than slowing down a few miles per hour, and, frequently, using restricted lanes.
Increasing the length or weight of trucks is sure to increase accidents, to say nothing of the more rapid breakdown of pavement.
If the Owner-Operator Independent Drivers Association Inc. wants to do some good, let it be visibly vocal about resisting these increases.
