Check out a variety of secular and sacred tribal artifacts for auction at the Hanzel Galleries’ Ethnic Arts Exhibition and Auction this weekend. Among them is a rare white buffalo hide, considered sacred by the Native American community. The hide is symbolic of harmony and spiritual balance among all people. An Apache-painted bow, Plains Indian beaded bags, pre-Colombian artifacts and early 19th Century Indian baskets will also be up for sale. A good-sized array of African artifacts from more than a dozen tribes will also be on display, including ceremonial masks and statues, carved doors, stools and chairs. Items will be on display from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. Friday and Saturday; the auction begins at 1 p.m. Sunday. 312-922-6234
