Elva A. Nimocks, 103, a former fur finisher for Evans Inc. for several years, died Monday in the University of Chicago Hospitals. Mrs. Nimocks was one of the first African-American pianists allowed to play in segregated movie houses throughout Mississippi. Mrs. Nimocks, a native of Meridian, Miss., is survived by a son, Rudolph Sr.; a daughter, Samantha Johnson; five grandchildren; and several great-grandchildren. Visitation will be from 10 to 11 a.m. Friday in Griffin Funeral Home, 3232 S. King Drive, Chicago. Funeral services will follow from 11 a.m. to noon.
