“Look, Gromit … Cheeze!!!”

If that means anything at all to you, you should go to WTTW’s Store of Knowledge on the seventh floor of Water Tower Place between noon and 2 p.m. Friday.

And if it doesn’t mean anything to you, you don’t watch enough good television (or rent the right videos.)

Claymation characters Wallace and Gromit will be at the store, life sized instead of in their little animated versions, for a visit. The characters were created by Nick Park, who won Academy Awards for two of the three short films in his Wallace and Gromit series.

So who are these characters?

Wallace is a dim but mechanically inclined man who lives somewhere in England, sustained by a collection of cheeses and big crackers. Gromit is his long-suffering and clever dog, such a strong character in the little morality plays Park has created that he seems to have escaped from Greek drama.

Of course, it will just be people dressed up in costumes, but if you close your eyes and wish hard enough, you might even be able to smell the gorgonzola!
