Reader Alan Light (Voice, July 20) complains about the use of the terms “homosexual killer” and “gay murder.” I must agree with him in principle, but, I must in turn disagree with the misappropriation of the word “gay.” This corruption has deprived the English-speaking world of a very descriptive adjective. Gone are “Gay Paree,” “Gay Divorcee,” “We were young and gay,” etc.

Surely, the homosexual community can come up with its own term without the gross piracy of a time-honored word or name.
