Orlando Pace, the No. 1 overall pick in the NFL draft out of Ohio State, has agreed to terms with the St. Louis Rams after missing most of training camp in a holdout.

The announcement was made Friday night during the Rams-Cowboys exhibition game.

Pace’s agent, Kevin Poston, said the seven-year contract was worth about $25.6 million. Pace can opt out of the contract after three years if certain playing time incentives are met.

The two sides had been at a standstill since the last offer by the Rams of a six-year deal for $24.7 million–only $9.5 million of which was guaranteed.

Cowboys win: Troy Aikman threw a TD pass, rookie cornerback Kevin Mathis had a touchdown off an interception return and Emmitt Smith made his 1997 debut with 24 yards on 12 carries as the host Dallas Cowboys outlasted the St. Louis Rams 34-31 Friday night in an NFL exhibition game.

Colts to stay: The Indianapolis Colts deserve to keep the money they bring the city by playing in the RCA Dome, Mayor Stephen Goldsmith says. Goldsmith says he’s ready to hand over the money the city’s Capital Management Board–which manages the RCA Dome–makes from the Colts. The city is still trying to determine the exact amount, he said, but it’s believed to be between $5 million and $8 million.
