Brian J. Smith, 53, executive vice president and chief financial officer of Northbrook-based IMC Global Inc., is resigning from the company effective Sept. 30. IMC President and CEO Robert E. Fowler said Smith will act as an adviser to the company until a successor is found. IMC is a leading producer of crop fertilizers and animal feeds.
