James N. Ahmann of Elmhurst, 84, a former sales manager for Kraft Foods for 39 years, died Saturday in the Mariner Health Care Center in Westchester. Born in Richmond, Minn., Mr. Ahmann worked in sales his entire career in the Chicago offices of Kraft. He sold imported and domestic cheese until his retirement in 1977. He helped set up promotions around the country and sampled cheese to check whether the product was up to specifications. Mr. Ahmann sold cheese to different stores before entering the U.S. Army in 1942. As a signal corps man, he was based in the South Pacific. Other survivors include three daughters, Elaine Rumler, Barbara Larson and Lorry Waterfall; two sons, James and Donald; 12 grandchildren; a brother; and two sisters. Funeral services will be held at 9 a.m. Wednesday in the Ahlgrim Funeral Home, 567 S. Spring Rd., Elmhurst. A mass will follow at 9:30 a.m. at Visitation Catholic Church, 779 S. York Rd., Elmhurst.
