Local governments will see increases in their state revenue-sharing payments this fiscal year after Gov. John Engler signed the general-government budget.
With an increase of $66.1 million, municipalities will see $1.4 billion in revenue-sharing payments through the 1997-98 fiscal year, which begins Oct. 1.
“By increasing the resources that go directly to local governments, we hope to make the job of the locals easier and to make sure that the taxpayers get the kind of quality services they deserve where it counts–at home in their communities,” Engler said in a statement.
