Crystal Lake South High School will welcome incoming freshmen Friday with a dance for the students and a presentation for their parents.
Freshmen will meet in the gymnasium and dance to music by Sound and Light Inc., while their parents watch the “Good Vibes” song and dance group perform skits portraying issues affecting families with teens.
Other adult members of the family, such as grandparents, are invited to the “Welcome to South” night from 7 to 9 p.m. in the school, 1200 McHenry Ave.
Students will meet classmates and mentors and participate in group activities.
“It’s a new idea for us to have a dance and parent presentation on the same night,” said Marsha Johnson, guidance counselor and coordinator of the event.
