John E. “Jack” Deegan, 76, died Monday in his Downers Grove home. He lived in Downers Grove for 45 years. A Chicago native, Mr. Deegan was a senior quality engineer for Western Electric Co., where he worked for 40 years before retiring. He fought in World War II and served in the Army Air Corps and the Illinois Army Air National Guard. Survivors include his wife, Genevieve “Ginger”; four sons, Jack, Tom, Jim and Don; three daughters, Pat Uhlir, Terre Deegan-Young and Kate Veith; two sisters; 30 grandchildren; and a great-grandchild. Services will be at 11 a.m. Thursday in Adams-Winterfield & Sullivan Funeral Home, 4343 Main St., Downers Grove. Mass will be said at 11:30 Thursday in St. Joseph Catholic Church, 4824 Highland Ave., Downers Grove.
