Robert A. Burns, 32, of Island Lake, died Sunday at Good Shepherd Hospital in Barrington. He served in the Army for 12 years, and his tours of duty included Kuwait, Korea, Germany and service in the gulf war. Mr. Burns received several medals, among them the Air Medal while serving with the 2nd Armored Cavalry Regiment during his service in Kuwait. He was employed at Kolze’s Corner Gardens in Woodstock and at the U.S. Postal Service’s Palatine Postal and Distribution Center. He also was a member of American Legion Post 690 in Palatine. He is survived by his wife, Joy L. McBride-Burns; his parents, William J. Jr. and Helen A.; three brothers; and a grandmother. Visitation will be from 11 a.m. until the 1 p.m. funeral Thursday in the Ahlgrim and Sons Funeral Home, 201 N. Northwest Highway, Palatine.
