The Village Board, at the urging of approximately 30 area residents, have rejected Kirk Corp.’s preliminary plan for Phase II of the Glen Eagle Farm subdivision.
The plan, which called for development of more than 200 homes on the Wencek property, would run north of Binnie Road and west of Randall Road.
Tom French, spokesman for Friends of Binnie Road, told the board that several hundred letters were written to the Army Corps of Engineers requesting a permit not be issued to John Carroll, president of Kirk Corp.
Homeowners have experienced problems with flooding in the Phase I of the development, French said. French, who lives in Phase I, told the board that further development would aggravate the problem.
Kirk’s option to buy the Phase II property expired Aug. 8. “Therefore, he (Carroll) has no legal right to the property,” French said.
An earlier vote taken by the board, approving Kirk’s proposal plan, resulted in the ouster of several board members in the April election.
