Village officials are considering stricter measures to make sure developers and builders complete their work.
Requiring a survey of grading before and after landscaping is one way to avoid some of the drainage problems that occur when homeowners or landscapers alter a property’s grading, officials said.
A cash deposit should be required to make sure work is done properly, Public Works Director Craig Heim said at a Monday work session.
A large enough cash deposit or letter of credit would enable village officials to follow through if a developer runs out of money and fails to complete parking or landscaping, Community Development Director Alan Zordan said.
A suggested policy would limit the reduction of letters of credit that developers post as assurance they will supply properties with streets, sidewalks and lights, Heim said.
