Patrick M. Fant, 72, a former Federal Aviation Administration official who lived for a time in Batavia, died Aug. 5 in his home in Waldport, Ore. Born in Los Angeles, Mr. Fant was an FAA air traffic controller while he lived in Batavia. He served as FAA administrator for the Alaska region in Anchorage and resided there for 16 years. Mr. Fant retired and moved to Waldport in 1979. Survivors include a son, Patrick; a daughter, Mary Louis Eastman; and three grandchildren. A memorial gathering will be held Sept. 6 in Newport, Ore.
