Bernard Pearl, 69, formerly of Niles, died Saturday in Northeast Baptist Hospital in San Antonio. Born in Chicago, he lived in Niles for more than 27 years. He had lived in San Antonio about seven years. Mr. Pearl worked as an insurance agent with Prudential Insurance Co. and Transamerica Insurance. He retired in 1990. Before that, he worked in the photo engraving department at the Chicago Tribune. He was a member of the Ben Hur Lodge No. 818 Ancient Free & Accepted Masons of Illinois, and was a past commander of the American Legion Carl Lindberry Post No. 1009 in Chicago. He was also a life member of Medinah Temple in Chicago. Survivors include his wife, Lillian, and a sister. Visitation will be from 6 to 8 p.m. Tuesday in the Sunset Northwest Funeral Home in San Antonio. A graveside service will be held at 9 a.m. Wednesday at Ft. Sam Houston National Cemetery in San Antonio.
