John William McMurray, 70, a Loop attorney who specialized in maritime law, died Thursday at the Wagner Health Care Center in Evanston. Mr. McMurray of Northfield was born in Evanston and later lived in Glencoe and Wilmette. He was a graduate of Loyola Academy in Wilmette, the U.S. Merchant Marine Academy at Kings Point, N.Y., and Northwestern University and Northwestern University Law School. He served in the U.S. Merchant Marines during World War II and with the U.S. Navy during the Korean War. Survivors include two sons, John and Laurence; four daughters, Anne, Susan, Jane Coppola and Margaret Goode; a sister; and four grandchildren. Visitation will be held from 5 to 9 p.m. Tuesday at the Donnellan Family Funeral Home, 10045 Skokie Blvd., Skokie. Mass will be said at 10 a.m. Wednesday at Sacred Heart Catholic Church, 1077 Tower Rd., Winnetka.
