I read with interest the Aug. 20 article about the beautification of North Halsted Street. I want to warn those people what could happen.

The city beautified our streets here in the Southwest Side neighborhood of McKinley Park. They put in new sidewalks and planted trees on Archer Avenue, 35th Street and Damen Avenue. This is all very nice, but as of October, all CTA bus service on Archer Avenue will be discontinued.

Archer Avenue has always been the main artery of the Southwest Side. The Orange Line “L” stations are too far away for some of us to walk to, so many of us will be stranded.

Tell those North Siders to keep their eye on the Halsted Street buses. Remember, “The city giveth and the city taketh away!”
