Donald Campbell, 74, a longtime resident of Park Ridge, died Friday. He was a World War II veteran of the Navy and later served in the Army in Japan. Mr. Campbell had a long career in the dairy industry, beginning with the Bowman Dairy. He later worked as the director of purchasing for Dean Foods. He retired in 1985 after 38 years of service. “He oversaw all the purchasing for the Dean Dairy as they changed from using glass jugs to paper cartons,” said his daughter Barbara Campbell. “There were times when they would come up short and he would rush to the airport to pick up materials then drive them to the plant.” Mr. Campbell was also an avid golfer. Other survivors include his wife, Betty; another daughter, Deborah Szewczyk; and a sister. A memorial service will be held at 7 p.m. Thursday in the First United Methodist Church of Park Ridge, 418 Touhy Ave.
