Joseph E. Bawolek, 89, of Niles died Sunday in Lutheran General Hospital in Park Ridge. Mr. Bawolek worked in factories where defense-related products were manufactured during World War II. He later worked as a route salesman for the Ward Baking Co. of Chicago, performed maintenance work for Maine West High School in Des Plaines. Later, he did maintenance work for the Park Ridge Library. He retired at age 82. Survivors include his wife, Virginia; a son, Joseph; a daughter, Kathleen Troken; two grandchildren; and a great-grandson. Visitation will be from 3 to 9 p.m. Tuesday in the Skaja Terrace Funeral Home, 7812 N. Milwaukee Ave., Niles. Services will be at 10:30 a.m. Wednesday in Skaja Terrace. Mass will be said at 11 a.m. in St. John Brebeuf Church, 8307 N. Harlem Ave., Niles.
