William R. Bright, 51, of Downers Grove, an independent electronics technician, died Sunday in Elmhurst Memorial Hospital. Mr. Bright began servicing electronics equipment in 1966 when he worked on radar and sonar detection systems for the U.S. Navy in Alaska, the Philippines, Vietnam and Thailand. After his discharge in 1970, he worked for Western Electric, Honeywell and Trane. Three years ago, he started his own business, servicing heating and air conditioning units and security systems in large buildings throughout DuPage and Cook Counties, his brother, Warren, said. “He could build or fix anything,” Warren Bright said. “He had craftsman skills and was very much a perfectionist.” Born in Chicago, Mr. Bright was a graduate of Hinsdale Central High School and attended DeVry Institute of Technology for two years. Other survivors include his parents, Ralph and Olivia; and his companion, James Harbareck. Services will be at 1 p.m. Wednesday in Elliston Funeral Home, First and Grant Streets, Hinsdale.
