Today’s winner of the Xenophobic USA award is Bonnie DeSimone, Chicago Tribune sportswriter, for her piece on Martina Hingis: “Hingis is a pure little aria perking along above one of the sport’s most cacophonous operas. She shows no symptoms of incipient adolescent tennis angst or its companion, parental resentment.”
