Three cheers: It has been a great year for Katie Linde, 18, of Johnsburg. She was Miss McHenry, and American Cheerleader magazine recently named her one of five recipients of its Seniors of Distinction award.
Before graduating from Johnsburg High School in June, she was varsity cheerleading squad captain, Student Council president, co-captain of the varsity track team, drum major and four-year honor roll student. After school, she volunteered for Habitat for Humanity and founded a local adopt-a-highway program.
“I’ve been so busy, I’ve hardly had a social life,” she said with a laugh.
Her activities also helped her be accepted to Illinois State University in Normal, where she plans to major in athletic training. And, of course, she plans to try out for the school cheerleading squad.
