Harold “Bud” Ascher, 63, a retired carpenter from Round Lake, died Tuesday in his home. A native of Eldora, Iowa, he lived in Round Lake for more than 18 years. Mr. Ascher served in the U.S. Army during the Korean War and worked as a carpenter for a Melrose Park contractor and for the Great Lakes Naval Training Center. Survivors include his wife, Kathy Rynish-Ascher; two stepdaughters, Karen Glay and Donna Brown; three grandchildren; and two sisters. Visitation will be from 6 to 9 p.m. Thursday in Strang Funeral Chapel & Crematorium Ltd., 410 E. Belvidere Rd., Grayslake. Services will be held at 11 a.m. Friday in the chapel.
