Every new television season brings a batch of fresh faces with a trace of future stardom about them. As the new shows start to pour in, here are five to keep an eye on:
Jenna Elfman, “Dharma and Greg,” ABC. As a free spirit who meets, falls in love with and marries her soul mate (Thomas Gibson) in one day, Elfman is bright and quirky, with a compelling smile and deft comic timing.
Kenny, “South Park,” Comedy Central. The only kid who doesn’t swear (his hood tightly covers his mouth) on this bitingly funny adult animated series, Kenny dies in the most violent ways every episode (he was ripped apart by a football team during one show), only to miraculously reappear, unscathed, the following week.
David Ramsey, “Good News,” UPN. As a young minister trying to get his new flock in order in this comedy, the handsome Ramsey exudes a likable charm and magnetic presence that suggests he could one day give Will Smith a run for his money.
Jeri Ryan, “Star Trek: Voyager,” UPN. Alluring as Seven of Nine, a member of the murderous alien Borg collective, Ryan smartly gives off the right amounts of attitude and mistrust. And no one has worn what looks like tin foil on part of her face so sexily.
Jon Tenney, “Brooklyn South,” CBS. Married to “Lois & Clark’s” Teri Hatcher, Tenney plays a squad leader with a secret that could ruin his reputation, in this controversial Steven Bochco cop series.
