Area: 1,013,594 acres.

Visitors: 1,720,576 in 1996.

Location: Northwestern Montana and (Waterton) southwestern Alberta, Canada.

Flora and fauna: 1,000 plant species, including beargrass, alpine wildflowers and rain forest; 57 animal varieties, including moose, bighorn sheep, grizzly bears and mountain lion; 210 bird species include bald eagles and mountain bluebirds.

Entrance fees: $10 per vehicle for seven-day pass. Single entries (on foot, horseback, etc.) $5 for seven days.
