A public hearing on the 1998 City of Chicago Preliminary Budget is set for 7 p.m. Wednesday at the South Shore Cultural Center.
The budget, which Mayor Richard Daley and other officials have predicted will require no increase in taxes, will be presented to the City Council in mid-October. Copies of the document can be examined at any Chicago Public Library branch. Doors open at 6:15 p.m.
An additional public hearing is scheduled Sept. 24 at the Chicago Department of Aging, 2102 W. Ogden Ave.
