Ralph E. Cressey, 94, a former Downers Grove teacher, died Friday in his San Diego home. Mr. Cressey graduated from Illinois Wesleyan University with a degree in mathematics and from the former Colorado State Teachers College with a master’s degree in counseling. He taught math and science and was a guidance counselor at Downers Grove High School for nearly 40 years before retiring in 1968. He led numerous student tours overseas and around the country. He was a resident of Naperville and Downers Grove before moving to San Diego in 1970. Survivors include a son, Dr. Richard Cressey; a daughter, Carolyn Raber; and two grandchildren. Services were in San Diego.
