William Hamilton Sr., 74, of Northfield died Friday in Evanston Hospital. Mr. Hamilton was a former president of Colbert Packaging Corp., of Lake Forest, a company that specializes in product packaging for the health care and consumer product industries. He retired in 1989 after 30 years. Mr. Hamilton was a graduate of Northwestern University and served in the U.S. Navy during World War II. He devoted much of his time in the past few years to raising money to find a cure for amyotrophic lateral sclerosis, often known as Lou Gehrig’s disease, which afflicted his late wife, Anne. Survivors include two daughters, Janet Stineman, and Patricia Lahart; three sons, William, Jr., James, and Michael; two sisters; a brother; and 13 grandchildren. Visitation will be from 2 until 9 p.m. Monday in Donnellan Family Funeral Home, 10045 Skokie Blvd., Skokie. Mass will be said at 10 a.m. Tuesday in St. Philip the Apostle Church, 1962 Old Willow Rd., Northfield.
