John McCarron made several good points in his discourse about Gay Pride parades and the “marital monogamy, sexual restraint and middle-class respectability” road (Op-Ed, Sept. 8).
You miss the point of the parades, however. The parades are attuned to cultural diversity within a minority group. Mardi Gras, singles bars, fraternity parties, strip clubs and such do not give the heterosexual community a bad name for which their civil rights should be stripped–or do they?
