Jasmine Guy stopped the show Sunday night, but it wasn’t with her regular dancing partner Charlotte D’Amboise. No, this time, the “Chicago” star dazzled with 9-year-old Charmaine Jordan to the sounds of Aretha Franklin.

The event was the Ruth Page Awards at the Westin River North Hotel, a benefit for the Chicago Dance Coalition. Guy, the special honored guest, was awarded a plaque and given a lifettime membership to the CDC.

For fun, she invited Jordan, one of her sister Monica’s dance students (Monica also attended the fete).

About 300 people were on hand for the awards dinner and lively ceremony. Among the other highlights was honoree Rudy Horn, along with Jimmy Payne and Jay Marshall, three renowned dance veterans who entertained the crowd with stories from their careers.

Other winners included Rosemary Doolas, John Ford and Matt Hoffman of Chicago Dance Medium; Carrie Hanson of Loop Troop and Jan Erkert & Dancers; Suet May Ho of Jan Erkert & Dancers; Billy Siegenfeld; and Joffrey Ballet’s Calvin Kitten and Guoping Wang.

The event co-chairs were Donald H. Ratner and Carol Fox. The party raised about $30,000.

– The Jane Addams Hull House Association brought in a record-breaking $350,000 during its annual awards ceremony last Wednesday at the Westin River North.

The winner of this year’s prestigious Jane Addams Medal was Amoco CEO H. Laurance Fuller, who was surprised by a performance from the Chicago Symphony Orchestra’s Brass Quintet.

Among his other charitable activities, Fuller serves as a member of the Chicago Orchestral Association.

He picked up the Jane Addams Medal for his philanthropic and business contributions.

About 400 people turned out for the event. Money raised goes to benefit the many social service programs the Hull House offers throughout Chicago.

– Tickets are still available for the second annual James Jordan Boys and Girls Club and Family Life Center Gala Fundraiser on Sept. 27 at the Chicago Hilton and Towers, 720 South Michigan Ave.

“Tip-off” starts at 6:30 p.m. with a cocktail hour; dinner follows, along with a dance and a silent auction. The Gentlemen of Leisure will entertain. Ticket prices start at $350. For more information, call 312-751-2121.

All money raised goes to support the ongoing operations of the club, which helps Chicago’s inner-city kids.
