The Village Board Thursday night approved an agreement with the Hanover Fire Protection District to install traffic pre-emption equipment at two intersections.
A contract for $12,708 was awarded to Aldridge Electric to install systems at two intersections on Barrington Road: one at Lake Street and the other at Irving Park Road.
The fire district and the village will share equally the cost of installing the system at the intersections, and the village will pay for installing transponders that activate the system in emergency vehicles.
The system allows emergency personnel to change traffic signals improve safety and decrease response time.
